Celebrating Roy: A Journey to U.S. Citizenship

At Auto-Wares, we truly consider ourselves a family, and as a family, we take pride in celebrating the milestones and achievements of our team members. This week, we are thrilled to celebrate alongside Roy Devens, the Assistant Manager at our Coldwater warehouse, as he recently became a United States citizen.

Roy’s journey to citizenship is an inspiring one. Originally from the Netherlands, he first arrived in the United States in 2007. After spending some time back in the Netherlands in 2010 to be with his family, Roy returned to the U.S. in 2014, this time with his wife by his side. He entered the country with an unconditional green card, allowing him to live and work here for ten years. Since then, Roy has embraced life in the U.S., securing a job he loves and continuing to grow his family.

Roy often jokes that his journey toward citizenship was driven by his deep desire to fully immerse himself in American culture. His wife adds her own humorous twist, teasing that she encouraged him to become a citizen so that her “husband could no longer be re-‘poed’.” We are incredibly proud of Roy’s accomplishment and grateful to have him as part of the Auto-Wares family.

In a heartwarming celebration, the Coldwater team came together to surprise Roy with a brand-new bike. Knowing that Roy rides his bike to work every day, they wanted to celebrate him in a meaningful way. This unexpected gift took Roy completely by surprise, and he couldn’t be more grateful for the thoughtfulness and generosity of his colleagues. It’s moments like these that truly highlight the strong sense of community within the team.

From all of us here at Auto-Wares, congratulations Roy!
